The HSC Modern History exam has a structure unlike most other subjects: all four sections are worth exactly 25 marks, alternating between short-answer and extended-response formats. Sections I and IV are short answer (3-4 questions worth 5-15 marks each); Sections II and III are extended responses worth 25 marks each.
