About This Book
This book is a 60-day preparation system for HSC Studies of Religion I, built around the precision and pacing this exam demands.
Your HSC Studies of Religion I exam is on the morning of Thursday 22 October 2026. At 50 marks in 1 hour and 30 minutes, it's one of the shorter HSC exams, which makes precision and pacing even more important. There's no time to find your feet.
The SOR I exam is structured across three sections: Section I combines 10 multiple-choice questions with a short answer for a total of 15 marks (25 minutes); Section II is a multi-part short-answer question worth 15 marks (30 minutes); Section III is a 20-mark extended response (35 minutes). One of the genuine advantages of SOR I is that you know exactly which topics are assessed in which sections, and this playbook shows you how to use that knowledge strategically.
Most students lose marks by producing responses that describe religious traditions without explaining their significance. Strong SOR I answers connect ideas clearly to the impact of religion or spirituality on individuals and communities.
Over 8 structured weeks, you will:
- Build your baseline and master the exam structure
- Develop precision and pacing for Section I and Section II questions
- Build Band 6 extended responses for Section III
- Work through both major topic areas: Religion and Belief Systems in Australia post-1945, and Religious Depth Studies
